European Research Centers
There are some different research centers in Europe on HLT (Human Language Technologies), such as The German Research Institute (Germany), Artificial Intelligence Research Institute of the Spanish Scientific Research Council (CSIC, Spain) or The French National Institute for Research in Computer Science and control (INRIA, France).
According to the website of the Research Center in Germany mentioned before, Language Technology World (LT) is the most comprehensive WWW information service and knowledge source on the wide range of technologies that deal with human language. The service is provides by the German Language Technology Competence Center at DFKI. The aim of DFKI is the improvement of language technology trough novel computational techniques for processing text, speech and knowledge, a deeper understanding of human language and thought, studying the true needs of the end user and the demands of the market.
Another important point to mention is the aim of the research center which is situated in Spain (CSIC). This is a center which investigates the Artificial Intelligence (AI), which belong to Consejo superior de investigaciones científicas (CSIC). They investigate a wide range of themes, such as "Sistemas de aprendizaje, agentes inteligentes, razonamiento lógico, búsqueda, mercados electrónicos, robots autónomos..."
Moreover, the French insitute is is dedicated to fundamental and applied research in information and communication science and technology (ICST). The Institute also plays a major role in technology transfer by fostering training through research, diffusion of scientific and technical information, development, as well as providing expert advice and participating in international programs.
